We Remember Jamie Musser

It is with aching sadness we remember Jamie  Musser who died in the tragic automobile accident in Cardington yesterday. This dazzling, beautiful, caring young woman bought dinner tickets for the Coach Tressel event for her father as a Christmas gift. And then at the last minute  Coach Tressel's appearance, Jamie texted an SOS message, "I need two more dinner tickets! Can I get them? Please!" And yes, we had them for her.  Our sympathy, care and concern surround Jamie's family and friends at this time of loss.

A HUGE Thank You To All The Hundreds of Volunteers

On behalf of the Board of Directors of Hospice of Morrow County, I want to personally thank (via email?) all the many (hundreds) of dedicated volunteers that made our night with Jim Tressel such an outstanding success.

The event was orchestrated wonderfully from the preliminary marketing and advertising, to the ticket sales, the meal planning/preparation/serving, the OSU merchandise sales, the greeters/ushers, and of course the big event of the night – our time spent with Coach Jim Tressel himself.  It was an exciting, inspiring, and motivating evening.

I know there is yet to be a wrap-up meeting where we’ll talk about what went right (and what didn’t) and about the funds raised.  Aside from monies raised, this was a great opportunity to increase community awareness of two fine organizations and that benefit will last us a long time into the future.

Again, I want to deeply thank all the volunteers.  You are truly what makes this community such a fine place to live, work, and play.  You can be very proud of your contribution to serve others.

Thank you,

Herb Baldwin, President
Board of Directors

Event Sponsors and Team Tables

Each sponsor for the evening has a unique leadership role. Individually they came forward because they want to ensure an uplifting, fun-filled program for everyone who attends. In many ways their sponsorships are special gifts to the community. When Coach Tressel accepted the invitation from the local hospice and YMCA to be here in March, Dennis Hyundai enrolled as the first sponsor.

The company is designated as the Quarterback Sponsor and is an important underwriter for the unique and once-in-a-lifetime evening.

As Media Sponsor, First-Knox National Bank is in a key position. Barbara Berry, Assistant Vice-President, Marketing, is leading the promotional campaign that includes billboards, radio spots and print advertisements. “Family, Faith, Fitness, Football -- This is an awesome event,”

Ms. Berry continued, “The Bank always looks for ways to support the vitally-important non-profit organizations in our communities. Here Hospice of Morrow County and the YMCA are dedicated to the good of the people, the county, the young and the old. First-Knox Bank wants what is best for individuals and communities and Coach Tressel is the best. We are proud to be the Media Sponsor for his night here in Morrow County.”

Other important sponsors include the following: The Scarlett Sponsor is the Cardinal Shooting Center. Buckeye Sponsors include Gompf Funeral Services, Rob and Sharon Hickson and Family and L. Phillips.

Team Tables are reserved by numerous families, businesses and groups. These include the Ault Family, Buckeye Blitz, Chad Adams, Chester Arbor 121 Gleaner Life Insurance Society, Consolidated Electric Cooperative, Inc., Dr. Allen Stojkovic, the Durfey/Ullom Families, Expoline Corporation, Fishburn Services, the Gleason Family, Gilead Christian School, Hospice of Morrow County, Janick & Company Financial Services, Marketing Morrow, Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center, Ole Farmstead Restaurant, the Oxygen Store, Scott Demorest Trucking, Snyder Funeral Home, Tidy Tim’s Inc./Edison Car Wash and Whiston Pharmacy.

The Evening with Coach Tressel is co-hosted by the Morrow County YMCA and Hospice of Morrow County and proceeds will benefit these two community-based groups.
Tickets are on sale now for $7.00 (young people 2 to 18 years old), and $10 and $20 for adults. Purchase tickets on line at: www.hospicemorrowcounty.org or www.ymcamorrow.org. Honored Guests Are Morrow County Residents

Honored guests are being selected for dinner reservations and special seats for Coach Tressel’s speech.  Raffles are being held throughout the county to determine winners from the following categories:  Veterans and those who have served in the armed forces, students grades six through 12 from each school district, the differently-abled from Whetstone and residents from Bennington Glen, Morrow Manor and Woodside Village. As hosts for the event the Morrow County YMCA and Hospice of Morrow County want to make sure a wide variety of community members have the chance to hear and be inspired by Coach Tressel.
